The Cowichan-Malahat-Langford NDP and a bunch of our friends took part in the 2018 Victoria Pride Parade. We were joined by MPs Alistair MacGregor, Randall Garrison, Murray Rankin, Brigitte Sansoucy, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, BC Premier John Horgan, Saanich-Gulf Islands NDP and more. Here are some of the messages from our leaders and highlights.
Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh’s Comments about Pride
CHEK News interviewed Jagmeet Singh. Here is part of what he had to say:
We need to get to the point where everyone has the rights that they need. Where everyone is respected. Love is love, and we tear down the homophobia, we tear down the transphobia, tear down those barriers and build a world that is truly inclusive.
MP Alistair MacGregor’s Comments about Pride
Our MP, Alistair MacGregor, made the following statement on Facebook:
LOVE IS LOVE.
Today we celebrated the 25th annual Victoria Pride Parade! It was absolutely amazing, the turnout was huge, and I was thrilled to celebrate it with so many New Democrats, including Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh and Premier John Horgan. My twins Arya and Annabelle even came along to join in the fun!
A world without discrimination is possible, but we must all work together to achieve it. Today I was proud to stand as an ally with the LGBTQ2 community, and I pledge to continue to work with the federal NDP Caucus to end discrimination.
BC Premier John Horgan’s Comments about Pride
On Twitter, Premier John Horgan said the following:
Pride is a celebration — and a protest. While we’ve made great strides to equality, there’s much more we can do to create a British Columbia that’s open & welcoming to everyone, no matter their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. Let’s build it together!
Highlights From Victoria Pride Parade 2018
The Cowichan-Malahat-Langford NDP had a great time at Pride. Both Jagmeet Singh and John Horgan wore our Pride buttons. And Jagmeet got to meet the Jagmeet that lives in the Cowichan Valley and can be seen every where we go. Here are some of the highlights and we hope to see you at Victoria Pride Parade in 2019!
